Generally, polysaccharide displayed great diversity in both source and chemical structure (Table 1.1.). Higher organisms such as animals (marine), plants, algae, fungi, and bacteria inherently produce polysaccharide (Shi, 2016). Thus, sources of polysaccharide are very numerous and globally found available.
1.1.3. Polysaccharide Classifications
Polysaccharides differentiated from other natural macromolecules such as nucleic acids, proteins, and lipids by the presence of chemical repeat units, which is the basis for their structural classification. A systematic classification of such huge polymers is of uttermost important considering their distinct diversity and complexicity in native structure.
